Must try the gluten free muffins AND the sourdough (can not emphasize the sourdough enough)! A lot of care went into the creation of the sourdough and they were kind enough to cut me a sample! Toasted and plain, absolutely delicious either way. Jeremy is the best and you can tell they care about the service and product. If you walk by the class and see a gluten free sunrise muffin - have one for me, my all time favorite from this place. :)
Excellent coffee shop for the locals. We stopped by after our lunch for a coffee and small sweet. The main room has quite a bit of seating, local art for sale on the walls, board games to borrow, some books and an old piano. They have full coffee and tea along with the ability to buy beans. The folks behind the counter were very friendly and helpful. Some small pastries/cookies/chocolate to go along with the caffeine. Available are small cold sandwiches and sides if you are a little more hungry. They also have coffee and coffee accessories to buy. In addition to the wonderful caffeine choices, there is also a small but well stocked wine shop and a small liquor store in the very back. Wine-wise, you would be hard pressed to walk away with something good, or local, or maybe that you have not heard of before (or all three). The liquor store has a lot of the usual items being so small, but all major categories are represented. Finally, they have a small number of different bitters and amaros. All-in-all, a great to place to stop.
Phenomenal atmosphere and ambience with live music. Great coffee and love the muffins (triple ginger)
A hardy thank you to Jess and the Emporium crew for making our anniversary special! The take you did on making your lemon lavender shortbread cookie into a cake was phenomenal. I will remember it for lifetimes to come. The flavor is delicious, the icing is spectacular and the taste is beyond this world. I also have to mention the customer service. The team there is always so helpful and nice on any day you visit. But, picking up the cake was such a sweet experience, you all did a great job and made me feel special. My husband and I are eternally grateful for you all.
Not only an excellent cafe with lovely gluten free pastry options and great breakfast, but a cultural hub of Yellow Springs. From the local writing group, wine tastings, live music, to poetry readings, it offers such a valuable gathering space. I’m glad it’s here.
Great coffee & atmosphere! The staff are very friendly and move swiftly with preparing orders. The atmosphere is cozy, warm & welcoming. There are books available to read if you choose. I was especially fond of the art displayed around the shop. Lots of vegan & dairy free options were also wonderful to see.
My wife and I stopped in to the Emporium/Underdog Cafe yesterday and although we'd visited the Emporium several times before we'd never been to the cafe. We were delighted with the menu having so many options for my wife who is a vegetarian. The service was quick and friendly. Their coffee is amazing and the whole place is very comfortable for sitting and talking. Our food came out very quickly and was perfectly done. Coffee refills are included when buy coffee and "lost" more than an hour just talking and drinking coffee in this love place. They also have a terrific package store with a big selection of wines including port and a nice selection of spirits. We will definitely be back.
We got the breakfast burrito and breakfast scramble. The eggs are soft and delicious and the sauce had a nice heat to it! Quick and friendly service. Highly recommend for a local choice.
